The second-hand marketplace Members Voice Frustration Regarding Size Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Reaction
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the new system was more in line with similar services.
They have suggested members to check their listings and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Updates
Previously, the measurements included one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she said.
Manual Updates
A different user, located in England, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: previously, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
